Bloom by jen Palmieri
We are intertwined
roots. I break through your territory just to stay alive while we keep digging for different reasons. I, to see how far I can go. You, only because you are afraid to fall. As if we are racing, our limbs begin to rapidly spread upwards towards a finish line of clouds. We absorb every warm rain drop that falls to our feet. I become drawn to the way you wrap around me. The wind brushing against us as the blue birds’ conversation becomes the harmony to our newfound melody. Our secrets hidden as we barricade ourselves deeper behind our red, orange, and green leaves. Your body twisting around mine, we shed our firey exterior and expose our true selves to the world. Our admirers awing at the gleaming spotlight crystallizing us here together. |
